Junior Project Manager
Our client is looking for an organised, practical person to help plan and coordinate our projects, keep customers informed and make sure work is ready for each trade.
You will work closely with the design team, experienced site staff and subcontractors. You will begin with a small number of projects and take on more responsibility as you learn our processes. Larger renovations will remain supported by an experienced working foreman.
The role combines site visits, office planning and customer communication. Regular travel to projects across Wexford, Carlow, Wicklow and surrounding areas. Normal working hours are 8am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday.
Review the handover from sales and design. Check that the agreed scope, drawings, selections, customer preferences and site requirements are recorded in JobTread, and flag missing information.
Prepare and update project schedules, materials lists and delivery plans with support from the team. Check quantities, obtain supplier and subcontractor quotations, and arrange approved orders and bookings.
Confirm access, site protection, waste arrangements, crew availability and trade sequencing before the start date. Brief the site team on the agreed plan.
Coordinate trades and deliveries, monitor progress and resolve routine scheduling issues. Plan material top-ups to reduce avoidable supply runs and downtime.
Visit sites at agreed stages, including after demolition, before tiling and before handover. Use checklists and experienced trades to check quality and raise technical concerns promptly.
Keep customers informed about progress, upcoming work and any changes. Record site notes, photographs, decisions and schedule updates in JobTread.
Identify changes to scope and help prepare variation details for approval. Obtain the required internal and customer approvals before additional work proceeds, escalating urgent safety or damage-prevention issues immediately.
Monitor site protection, housekeeping and safe working arrangements. Raise unsafe conditions promptly and follow the company’s escalation procedures.
Arrange completion walkthroughs, prepare snag lists, assign actions and track them through to resolution. Record customer handover and relevant sign-offs.
Notify the office when payment milestones are reached and provide the information needed for invoicing. Keep project records complete for final billing and closeout.
Prepare the weekly operations update covering progress, upcoming starts, materials, variations, budget concerns and outstanding decisions. Help review completed jobs and improve our processes.
Practical understanding of residential construction or renovation and how different trades fit together. Experience in site coordination, a trade, installation management or a similar role is valuable.
Strong organisation and follow-through, with the ability to manage several jobs at different stages and raise problems before they cause delays.
Clear, professional communication with customers, trades and suppliers, and the confidence to follow up on agreed actions.
Ability to understand drawings, specifications, basic quantities and project budgets, with support where needed.
Confidence using software, email and spreadsheets, and a willingness to keep accurate digital records. JobTread training will be provided; experience with construction management software is an advantage.
A full driving licence valid for driving in Ireland and willingness to travel regularly between sites.
Completion and reporting
Support and decision making
You will coordinate work within agreed budgets and purchasing limits. Senior management retains responsibility for pricing, significant variations and overspend, complex technical decisions, serious disputes and staffing. The office handles invoicing and collections. Specialist work and certification remain with appropriately qualified trades and professionals.
Our client needs:
A construction-related qualification or project management certification is welcome, but relevant practical experience is equally important. You do not need previous responsibility for large commercial projects.
Your first three months
First month: shadow the team, learn our systems, meet trades and suppliers, and help prepare schedules, handovers and site checklists.
Second month: coordinate two or three suitable projects with regular support, manage routine customer updates and prepare the weekly operations review.
Third month: take greater ownership of an agreed workload based on your progress. We will review your development before increasing the number or complexity of projects.
What success looks like
Success means jobs are ready, customers and trades know the plan, records are current, risks are raised early and snags are closed promptly. Targets will be agreed during onboarding and reviewed at 30, 60 and 90 days.
